LPDA

LUSC Player Development Academy (LPDA)

LUSC is pleased to announce a new program, the LPDA, to begin in the fall of 2008. The LPDA will offer enthusiastic players the opportunity to get top professional training and a high level of team play often associated with ‘club’ teams, but at a reduced cost and without the long commute to practice. The LPDA will be directed by LUSC Director of Coaching, Brendan Donahue. LPDA teams will practice in Lexington and compete in the Massachusetts Soccer Conference (MASC) on fall and spring Sunday afternoons in an 8v8 format.

What is the LPDA?
The LPDA is a player development academy. The entire focus of the coaching staff will be to train players to play the game of soccer at a high level while promoting development and enjoyment.

Why the LPDA?
   • Provide supplemental, expert training under professional supervision for the serious player
   • Provide Lexington families with a local, less costly, developmentally appropriate alternative to "Club Soccer"
   • Continue to develop Lexington players within our soccer community

Who is eligible for the LPDA?
All players registered with LUSC in the U11 or U12 age groups as of the fall of 2008. (Current U10 and U11 players).

Note: The LPDA is a supplement to, not a replacement for, LUSC Soccer. Academy players are expected to play with their travel or in-town team on Saturdays and attend regular team practices. The Academy will announce their training night at the time of the program’s launching so LUSC coaches with academy players can schedule their practices on a different night.

How Do I Get My Child Involved?
   • The LPDA will field one girls and one boys team each consisting of players from the U11 and U12 age group. Your child should currently be a U10 or U11 player (rising U11 and U12).
   • Information sessions will be held for eligible players and their parents in May.
   • Tryouts will be held from 6-7:30 pm at Clarke Middle School.
       • Girls, Tues June 3, 2008
       • Boys, Wed June 4, 2008
   • Registration forms and the registration process will also be posted on the website.

The Coach: Brendan Donahue, LUSC DOC, will coach both LPDA teams.
   • Coach Donahue holds both his USSF A license and NSCAA Premier National Diploma.
   • Serves as a member of the Mass Youth Soccer Educational staff
   • Coaches in Mass Olympic Development Program
   • Coach Donahue spent over a decade coaching collegiate soccer at the Division I through III levels.
